Tree of Life Entertainment Solutions Group (TOLESG) wants to celebrate others; the Famous, the History Makers, and even the Unknown and Forgotten.   We plan to do this through our interactive Oklahoma Experience Cultural Project scheduled for development in Phase 6. The purpose of The Black History Experience will be to recognize some of those Black Oklahomans who stand out as our activists and people who made an impact with change in so many ways.  They were our modern-day, Social Advocates back in the day.  In fact, even within our Founder's family, there are history makers involved in the 1989 Land Run, famous Cowboy, and even running for their lives in the Tulsa Race Massacre.   Her family has also shown their generosity by impacting the Arcadia community (photo above Red Round Barn), where they grew up to their involvement with a famous HBCU (hint, a movie was made about it).   She is ready to tell her own personal experiences that are part of Oklahoma's unknown history.  However, one of the most noted history-makers is Clara Luper, who was known as a true icon in the Okla. Civil Rights movement.  Many heroes stood side-by-side with her, fighting for our freedom, one of them was Portwood Williams.  Because Oklahoma has deservingly honored Mrs. Luper in various ways, we wanted to bring attention to others not as well known who were also a part of the movement and social change.  Mr. Williams was also a businessman, and his establishment has been vacant for years, yet still sits in the midst of the Black Community as a reminder of his importance to the community. This is why we want to name this interactive journey as a way to scroll down The Black History Experience, PORTWOODVILLE

Oklahoma History Makers

Because Okla. is unique in so many various ways, we want to pay homage to many of these traits such as recognizing our strong Native Americans presence-share their history, honor their contributions to our state and share and celebrate their cultural offerings. At one time, Oklahoma had over 50 Black established towns (more than any otherstate). Now only 13 remain.

We want to also share in our Black history; as African-Americans we want to tell the stories that need to be told and learn more about our history along the side of all others who come here to visit. However, because diversity is a crucial part of what we strive to present, there are future plans to continue to build up additional cultural experiences.

Other experiences will be the recognition of many famous Oklahomans in all aspects, from music, fashion, famous actors, and entertainers to politics and those who impacted our history.

Back to the Future

Understanding our Culture as Black People is crucial and equally important for others to understand.  There are so many misconceptions about the Black Community and People that it would be a shame for us to miss this opportunity to change those scenarios.   Taking a page from Procter and Gamble campaigns (see click the links below-worth the watch), Widen the Screen, we want to change our mindsets and perception of our limitations by eliminating the stereotypes.  It is past time we widen the screen, expand our opportunities and learn to appreciate and understand our value.  TOLESG's goal is to Widen the Screen through our media platforms and educate future generations on all the possibilities and opportunities available to them.  That starts by knowing who YOU ARE and embracing all that encompasses.

As you stroll down this journey to be educated about our past, we are also excited to develop an interactive section on an imaginary look into our future.  One thing we know for sure, because of the efforts of TOLESG that everyone will be able to find their place in all aspects of the media and communications.  They can no longer feel a lack of opportunities for BIPOC+, and the industries TOLESG focuses on are lacking and excluded.

Yes, we need to learn and understand our history; however, an enormous part of our focus will be on building a future that is no different from our past mistreatments and unfairness.  Yet, we want to incorporate the past values, morals, and wholeness our Ancestors possessed.  TOLESG will recruit an extraordinary team of visionaries and imaginaries (like Disney's Imagineers) to create unique social innovation projects creating a future world where all people envision a way of life.  IF YOU SEE IT, YOU CAN BELIEVE IT...IF YOU CAN BELIEVE IT, YOU CAN DO IT!  We want to be role models for the changes we want to See in the World.

Together we are Power...Apart we're stagnant

Let's open our Minds to ALL POSSIBILITIES, then encourage the next Generation to do the same!

OWN and P&G come together for a special one-hour programming event featuring short films by up-and-coming Black creators that celebrate Black stories and the expansiveness of Black life, while honoring the anniversary of the tragic murder of George Floyd. "OWN and P&G Present: Widen The Screen – A Fuller View of Black Life" is hosted by Oprah Winfrey and features short films including the world premiere of "These Hands" from LeBron James' production company and films from The Queen Collective in partnership with Queen Latifah: "Tangled Roots," "Ballet After Dark" and "Gloves Off." ABOUT "WIDEN THE SCREEN" Words alone won’t create change. Sustained action and investment are necessary to address the systemic bias and inequality in advertising and media. Widen The Screen is expansive content creation, talent development, and partnership platform that celebrates creativity and enables Black creators to share the full richness of the Black experience.

The posted P & G videos are part of our inspiration to tell our stories.
